Freezer Repair
Freezer columns and drawers that frost over, thaw at the edges or short-cycle their way through a Puget Sound winter.
What people describe when they call
- Everything has a soft coat of frost on it and the ice cream has gone slushy.
- A slab of ice keeps forming under the bottom basket no matter how often it is chipped out.
- It runs for twenty minutes, clicks off, then starts again a few minutes later.
- The drawer no longer closes flush and the gasket feels stiff and papery.

Ice under the bottom basket had got thick enough to stop the drawer shutting, and I assumed that was normal. The drain was frozen back to the evaporator and the defrost limit had failed.
Twenty minutes on, a few minutes off, all night, every night. First visit pinned it to a control sensor that was not on the van, so we waited days for a second slot. Fitted, and the cycling settled.
Freezer drawer kept frosting up. Another company wanted to replace the whole control board. It was a split gasket and a drain that had iced over. Fraction of the price.
